The biography of a Karaoke Host:

Bill has been a music fan, sometime musician, and music lover for his entire life.  It began with records his father played of jazz from the great swing bands then his own records of the Beatles, the Who, the Doors, Deep Purple and Rush, among many other bands.  He received a drum set at the age of 12 and played the trumpet in junior and senior high school band.  During his entire work life, most of which was spent in the printing trade as an Offset Pressman, he spent free time listening to music, going to hear/see live music, and supporting and encouraging his daughter’s study of music.

Over the years, he occasionally DJ’d parties for friends.  Then along came karaoke, and it changed his life.  Now his dream was to work as a KJ, especially after being laid off from his last printing job.  He started getting gigs as a Karaoke Host starting with Mickey’s Sports Bar in Fullerton, then gigs followed at the Olive Pit in Orange, and Chu’s Wok Inn also in Orange. He had spent several years as a Thursday night karaoke regular singing for fun at the Rio Vista Inn in Anaheim, when Smitty (the Karaoke Host there for 16 years) was working there, and they became friends. When Smitty became ill and needed someone to sub for him in 2009, he hand-picked Bill as his temporary replacement.  As it turned out, Smitty was never able to return to the Rio, and Bill stayed on permanently.  He was at the Rio Vista for almost 6 years.  Before Smitty passed away in 2012 he gave Bill his collection of several old classic Karaoke CDs no longer in print. Bill added those to his own formidable collection, which he adds to constantly, often at the requests of customers.  After the Rio Vista was a little over a year working with one of the most popular and respected KJ's, "Bobby Vegas" at the very well know place the "Azteca Mexican Restaurant" in Garden Grove. While hosting there on Friday nights he was nominated twice for the Orange County KJ of the Year award by Karaoke Scene Magazine. Since 2014 Bill finally got that set of drums he has been wanting for years and he has been playing with a few short term bands. Mostly classic rock and Beatles music, but he just enjoys jamming with anyone he can.

Back to Karaoke, he has always remembered what it was like to get up in front of a crowd and sing Karaoke for the first time and that's why he is so supportive of new singers coming out and enjoying Karaoke for the first time. Every long time regular has started in that same place at one time or another. Everyone is a star at his shows and he prides himself on keeping the singing rotation fair and honest for All Singers!

Bill was working full-time as a Calibration Technician on flow meters for water treatment plants all over southern California until the summer of 2022, when he decided to semi-retire and moved to Chicago, Illinois.

Now he works part time for the same people that he worked for in California but working remotely for their property management company.
